We have some really cool bikes in the works right now. Two custom Serotta frames arrived this week. One is a Mevici for our very own Thom Suddeth and the other is a really cool Couer D’ acier. Thom’s Mevici needs little explanation. The Mevici is the flagship model from Serotta. This fully custom and fully hand built frame is best compared to a Colnago C50 but custom. This only gives you a basic feel for how sweet this bike is though. Once it’s finished I’ll give a full write up on it. In the mean time we are working to complete the Couer D’ acier for a Mr. Scott Olson. This is Serotta’s steel model. Using custom drawn steel tubes from Columbus and specially made carbon seat stays and fork from Reynolds Composites. Scott is doing this frame justice and having it built with Campagnolo Record parts for the drive train. To tie it all together he is opting for American made parts where possible and thus it gets a Thomson stem and Chris King headset. The seatpost is something you don’t see too often, a Reynolds. Not all that well known for their small parts Reynolds makes a really clever post design that compliments the looks of the bike. For wheels Scott has opted for a wireless Saris Powertap power meter laced to DT R 1.2 rims. The R 1.2 is a new rim for DT and while heavier than the more established R 1.1 it brings better aero dynamics and stiffness to the table. Maybe not the best for a mountain time trial but perfect for banging around in a crit. So here are a few photos of both bikes. More to come when they are both completed.
